Common questions
Is a US size 8 the same as a UK size 8?
No. UK dress sizes run 4 numbers higher than US ones. A US size 8 is a UK size 12, and an EU size 40. If you order your usual number from a UK store without converting, the dress will arrive too small.
How do I change an EU size into a US size?
For women's dresses and tops, take 32 off the EU number. An EU 40 becomes a US 8, and an EU 38 becomes a US 6. The converter above does it for you.
Do all brands use the same sizes?
Not exactly. These charts are the standard guide most brands follow, but some brands cut smaller or bigger. If a store shows its own size chart, check your bust, waist and hip numbers against it before you order.
What if I am between two sizes?
For dresses and anything fitted at the waist, most shoppers are happier in the bigger size. For loose tops, either size usually works. Measuring yourself once, in inches or centimetres, makes every chart easier to use.
